New Mexico
I’ve taken my camera to New Mexico a few times, the most recent of which was in the fall of 2024. As part of a New Mexico/Colorado excursion, my friend Don Weaver and I visited an area in northwestern New Mexico called the Bisti Badlands. The area is pretty remote, but it was well worth the trouble. Before that, I had been to Carlsbad Caverns and then to Santa Fe, both of which produced some interesting photos.
Ghost Ranch
Georgia O’Keeffe spent some time at Ghost Ranch, in Abiquiu, New Mexico, presumably not in this cabin!
Museum of Contemporary Native Arts, Santa Fe, NM
Wandering around near the Plaza in Santa Fe, I came across these brightly painted columns at the entrance to the Museum of Contemporary Native Arts.
Bisti Badlands
This remote area, on Navajo land in northwestern New Mexico, is hard to get to, but the landscape is unlike anything else I’ve seen.

Another photo from the “Valley of Dreams” in the badlands.
Bisti Wings
This rock formation is what initially motivated us to go the Bisti Badlands. Camera buddy Don Weaver and I walked through desert and rock formations for a long time before we finally found the Wings. Sunset was the perfect time to be there.
